"r" is for RETRO hair

i have always been so fascinated with fashion and hair through the ages.
the word <<retro>> means of or designating the style of an earlier time.
so today, we are going to take a look at hair styles through the ages.
"r" is for retro

1920's
the twenties have always been my favorite era.
so timeless and classic.
i love the style of the flapper girls from their pearls, feathers, and fringes
to their decadent makeup and HAIR (of course!)
in the 20's and 30's pin curls and finger curls were widely used to form the hair.

check out this detailed video tutorial for finger wave how-to

1930's

beauty is a thing of the past has all
<<<<< these book page images for setting pin curls.
check out the pin curls how to  on their site.

1940's
remember the notebook post?
i love this 1940's style from the film.
spiral curl the bangs
lightly curl under the ends
add a simple cloth hat
with a killer rose accessory

1950's
the era of the pin up girls
these hairstyles consisted of rolls, poofs, chignons, and lots of volume
love this pin up girl pic.

1960's
the era of twiggy.
big eyes, nude lips, & hair flips.
perfect volume, love the flipped out ends. WOW!
aside from the great hair, don't these ladies have fab sweater patterns!
1970's
big hair, lot's of fluff, and of course. FARRAH!
i love the face framed flip.
i do this a lot after i straighten my hair to add a little flair.

  6. The '60's are my favourite styles- beehives are so much fun. I notice you left out the 'glam' of the 1980's, perhaps that is a good thing ;) lynda

  7. They all change so much from decade to decade, and we borrow from the past to make the present ours.

  8. Very nice post, I've always had stick straight hair until after I had children then it got wavy. Now I'm bald because of chemo and really looking forward to getting hair back!
