how to use mac pigment

i've been pretty excited about this post.
i'm going to show you 4 different ways to use pigment
if you don't know what pigment is,
pigment is a coloring system for make up.
basically, you can use one pot of pigment for ALL your makeup.
and a little goes a long way!
i have a lot of mac pigment so that's what i will use to show.
mac makeup is what i use most often, so i am a little partial to it :)

but there are also a lot of other pigments
L'Oreal HiP Shocking Shadow Pigments.Opens in a new window

check your local beauty supplier, ask if they have pigment pots
and they can probably show you a few different brands.

here are the materials you will need for makeup:
vaseline
lotion
a shadow brush
a cheek brush
cotton swabs

when using pigment to color cheeks
just dip the brush in the pigment... that's it
and apply to your cheeks like blush.
the pigment i use is yellowish in color and goes on a shimmery pink.

when using pigment to color lips
dip a cotton swab in vaseline
then dip the cotton swab in the pigment color of your choice.
apply on lips

when using pigment as eyeshadow
first apply lotion to the lid,
dip the shadow brush in the loose powder
apply on eyes to create an intense LASTING color
using pigment as shadow is my favorite way to use pigment.
in the picture below, i have used two colors...
and it lasts ALL DAY...with seriously NO WEARING!!

when using pigment as fingernail polish,
dump out a little clear polish and pigment on a plate,
stir the mixture together and it creates a fabulous colored polish!

long story short:
pigment is the GREATEST!
it lasts for such a long time.
i have had one pot since JUNIOR HIGH!
and it still works like a charm :)
comment/email me if you have any questions about using pigment
and i will do my best to help!

    1. thanks for all the great comments everyone!
the lotion i used on my lid for this post was clinique lotion (as pictured).
i have also used mary kay.
the reason i used these lotions are just because i happened to have them on hand.
i say any lotion will work GREAT as long as it has a thin consistency.
      hope this helps!

  14. I had no idea that you could do all of this! The nail polish was a pleasant surprise. I always wondered what the point of clear polish was..now I know and need to get some.

For the eyes, do you leave the lotion on thick without rubbing it in before you apply the pigment? Does it make the pigment feel heavy and chunky on your eyes? I have always applied pigment directly to the eye and it has never lasted long which is why I don't really use it. So excited to learn how!!

  15. Lauryn,
PLEASE EXCUSE ME....in my eagerness to read the post I failed to notice the clinique lotion (AS PICTURED) as quoted by you above. APPARENTLY I'm not the only person who bothered you w/this question. I have NEVER received a response from a blogger who addressed me (in my email from you) as if I were in your (future??) Kindergarten class who didn't pay attention. Happy to un scribe and therefore refrain from imposing on you again. Interesting that in a post this week, you said you 'were vain'...............Not feeling the (love) lauryn as you stated in your response. Suggest you strive to achieve a higher standard of displaying 'class'. You are such a beautiful young woman and best wishes of course.

    1. Oh lesa, I am so so sorry I have offended you. I thought your question about the lotion was great! I generally answer questions through email or on the persons blog. Those who had the same question about the lotion had their questions answered in that manner. I could not find a place to reply to you which is why I directed the comment to you. I honestly stated your name out of respect, I apologize it did not appear that way. The reason I stated the lotion pictured is that I realized no one probably even had a clue it was lotion. I thought it would help clarify as I did not explain that well in the post at all. I am sad to see you unsubscribe, and again am deeply sorry for coming off as disrespectful or harsh. I in no way intended for that to happen.

  16. Lauryn, Upon reading your response about offending me, I must say I do believe your words are heartfelt. Please know I welcome and accept your apology. As a gesture of good will between us, I have contacted Whitney Vass with a desire to purchase a custom item of her art and welcome the opportunity to help a college girl ref. expenses. Hoping your lovely post about her indeed generates sales. Lauryn I read/research LOTS of blogs for the corporation I'm employed with and must say you did handle your response with grace. This issue is unfortunate at best and hopefully soon forgotten. Good luck in your future endeavors and Warm Regards.
