these are outfits i totally wish i had... and wish i was wearing right now!

black aztec shirt, red lips, & glasses

today's post will be brief.
i am in CALIFORNIA!!
we are headed to the beach & disneyland.
CAN'T WAIT!
here is an outfit post featuring some stunning new pieces i am now the owner of!

this crazy awesome lipstick is part of my revlon expressions experiment kit.
seriously the best lipstick ever. it goes on so smooth & fancy!
i am wearing no other makeup aside from the lipstick.
i was way impressed how it glamoured me up super quick.

i also LOVE the cutouts of this sugarlips shirt.. aztec-y coolness.

and yes, i am awkwardly looking up to the sky in this picture,
BUT i wanted to include it because this shirt has some really cool small details.
check out the sheer insert in both sides.
i love little stuff like this in clothing.

pants: pac sun
necklace & shoes: american eagle
belt: gift from my momma

i have some fun disney posts scheduled for this week,
so come back tomorrow!

a modern day fairy tale design

happy 24th of july for those utahns out there.
we are enjoying a day off today, although with homework and everything else,
it's not much of a day off.
i've created a new section of the blog:
i thought it would be easier if all of the freebies on the blog were in the same place.
there are still plenty of items to be added to the section, but for now,
go check out the printables section, there are a lot there!

i have also just finished a blog header & thought i'd share it with you:

this will be added to the blog design section of the blog as well.
& go check out randi's blog to see the header live in action!

revlon expression experiment #1

This post brought to you by Revlon. All opinions are 100% mine.

i am really excited about the next couple of posts.
i have decided to join in on the Revlon Expression Experiment. (yaay!)

exp_exp_logo.jpg (2 documents, 2 total pages)

it's a challenge to use new colors, new hues, and change makeup from being so routine.
the first product i am using today is:
revlon colorstay shadow

i used the little sissy as a model.
she and i are similar in our makeup application..
although we use different products than one another,
we have gotten into this little rut with our makeup.
i used to use some awesome colors with my shadow,
but these days...i put on mascara & eyeliner and call it good.
man! i need to break out of my shell!
i used to love doing eyeshadow
because i felt like i could use my eyes as an art canvas every day.
so i was excited to do that again with the little sissy today and the above color pallete.

*tip: if you want your shadow to be more pigmented,
try using some lotion mixed in with the shadow.

below is a drawing of how the shadow was applied:

and my favorite part,
i love wearing awesome shadow with a fabulous outfit.
i think bright shadow like this would look great with a neutral outfit and aqua/green accents:
aqua accents

& if this post wasn't long enough already...
i had to add this picture of little sissy.
does her hair not look ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
i am so jealous of her pretty locks.

pretty fun, huh!
and you can join in on the expression movement & boost your self esteem with revlon products!
just check out the facebook page: Revlon Expression Experiment
or just try some inspiration on your own, comment about it and lead me to your posts!
now, have fun!
and come back soon for more of my revlon expression.
nail polish, lipstick, more eye shadow... woot!

smurf party invites!

made these announcements for my work friend's little baby.
she was having a smurf party!

since it was such a simple design,
i could easily edit it to make it generic.
if you have a little girl (sorry boys) who wants a smurf party,
feel free to use these announcements!
just right/double click and save as.
let me know if you have any problems (resolution is bad, it won't download, etc.)
and i'd be happy to email the document to you!
we printed the invites as 4x6's.

& if you have boys who want a smurf invite,
email me and we'll talk.
laurynashli1 {at} gmail {dot} com
have a happy smurfday!

salmon thrifted skirt

hello!
& hope you all had an AMAZING 4th.
we got our own private fireworks show on our roof here at home.
so much fun.

a couple weeks ago i was at a thrift store and scored this awesome skirt.
still with the tag... and it was probably from about the 80's-90's ish.. SO COOL!
i don't know how i turned into a thrift shopper.
i used to be totally freaked out about it.. and somehow it snuck up on me.
hey, this skirt cost me $6.
i can handle that.

but what i love about it is the fact that it is long enough to cover my long legs.
i have such a hard time with skirts because they are always a titch too short.
and this skirt was great!

shirt: american eagle (years ago)
skirt: thrifted
shoes: ross
bow necklace: disney
turquoise necklace: thrifted from montana

is it just me or does it feel like the weekend already?
happy day!

no sew lace pocket jeans

so i had this pair of seriously boring pants.
they really had just nothing going for them.
so i thought if i updated the pockets i might wear them more.
i decided to add some lace and i LOVE the pants.
i will wear them all the time now!

i have to say,
this is such an awkward post.
i have been putting it off because,
let's face it...
i had to take pictures of my behind.
yikes.

but i finally buckled down and had the little sissy snap some pics:

like them?
here's the tutorial:
the instructions below match the numbered photos

1. you will need
fabric glue
(i used jones tones and it worked awesome)
lace
& scissors.
that's it!

2. cut the lace to the size of the pockets

3. squirt a couple stripes of glue where you are going to lay the lace

4. spread out the glue (i just used my fingers) and lay the lace.

then let it dry for 24 hours and you're done!

pretty excited about my "new" pants!
have a great day!

woah, slow down, summer.

i seriously can not believe july is already here.
i had a completely different post scheduled for today and realized...
holy schmoles.
june is over, we need a new desktop!
so, it is 1:25 am as i am writing this post, and i just finished the desktop.
so you better use it!! (totally kidding)
but here it is for your own gee wiz.

just right/double click & save as then set as your desktop background.
if you have any trouble, sizing is weird, the image is pixelated, i messed up on the calendar, whatever, PLEASE let me know!

come back tomorrow for a WAY exciting post about jazzing up my jeans.
happy monday!
