spring cleaning for your body!

last week of finals! yaay!
there will be and end soon.
the blog will continue to be a little laid back until i get more time.
thanks for the understanding.
sorry for those of you who came looking for a link party this weekend and found nothing here!
i appreciate your patience.

i thought today i'd share a post i recently shared at the how does she blog
here is a different take to spring cleaning:

once your house is clean from top to bottom,
how are you going to clean up and beautify yourself?
here are my favorite products to use when i am "spring cleaning" my body from head to toe.

1
this stuff is great. read the directions. it only works if you do what it says.
trust me, i learned the hard way :)
Fekkai Advanced Essential Shea Hair Mask

2
my go to stuff! i love it.
super easy to use, has a stick that lets you know when the wax is cool enough to apply.
comes with tweezers for the strays and cooling lotion, BONUS!
Sally Hansen Micro Eyebrow-Lip & Face Wax
3
these work like a gem to lift black heads.
i feel sparkly and clean after each use!

4
this stuff is so refreshing, it makes you feel like you just had a facial after each use.
no joke! and it smells great too!
Seaweed Clarifying Toner - Seaweed

5
honestly, these kill my teeth. but they work great!
if you don't have super sensitive chompers like me,
i definitely recommend these!
3D White Intensive Professional Effects Whitestrips Dental Whitening Kit

6
i use this stuff in the shower, it locks in moisture & doubles as a shaving cream!
Johnson's Baby Oil Shea and Cocoa Butter - 6.5 oz..Opens in a new window

7
just barely tried this stuff this month.
it is the lotion i have dreamt of all my life!
the commercials are right. you will love this product, and it CURES dry skin!
(in my opinion)
Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Lotion

8
i get really cracky and dry around my cuticles.
this hand scrub takes care of it in a pinch.

60-Second Manicure Hand Scrub - Just a Minute - True Blue® Spa - Bath & Body Works
60-Second Manicure Hand Scrub - Just a Minute - True Blue® Spa - Bath & Body Works
9
as scary as it may seem,
these spray is seamless. it doesn't go on super thick, and doesn't look fake.
i was nervous when i first used it, but it gives a shimmery natural glow perfect for spring!

10
always helpful to clean up those cracked heels.
bottom line.
CoverGirl Pumice Stone/Massager 1 ea
11
love to keep these in my purse. they work great on the go, or in the car.
one pad can clean all 10 fingers & toes!
Cutex Essential Care One Step Nail Polish Remover Pads, Regular
12
gotta finish off the spring cleaning with some final touches,
essie's line of polish colors are beautiful! perfect colors for spring.
pink-a-boo

so when you've finished spring cleaning your home, spring clean your body.
you will feel fresh & renewed, all ready for the warmer weather.
gotta love the just cleaned feeling!

thanks for having me at how does she!
stop by my place if you get a chance.

super easy way to embellish flats

all you need is your glue gun for this one!
& embellishments of course.

i had a pair of flats that i liked, but i wanted a little pizazz for them.
i wore them with this outfit.
cute, but want a little extra.

so, i decided to get to work and grabbed a couple of things here and there.
here is what i came up with:
yes, unfortunately, awful lighting.
yes, unfortunately for all pictures in this post.
i know there are always blog tips saying "good, natural lighting"
well, i was doing this late late at night, what can i say.
there is no natural light for late night crafting. k?

seriously, these shoes were cake to make
& took hardly any time at all.
would you like a simple tutorial?

and you end up with these!

i'm kind of excited to have me some coke shoes now.
i knew these bottle caps would come to use eventually!
hope you enjoyed,
and don't forget to enter the downeast basics giveaway!!
everyone needs new clothes!!
happy monday :)

spread the love #7+downeast review & giveaway

ok..i am waay excited about today's giveaway.
i LOVE downeast basics.
if you don't know already,
downeast basics is a modern clothing company that sells modest clothing.
their clothing is really just super darling & affordable too.
ultimate shopping.
we have a downeast store here in our mall, i always gaze as i walk by thinking...oh i want, i want!
they have a huge range of items.
super classy and fancy dresses, sweet little ruffly shirts, casual denim, super chic swimsuits and MORE.
so it's clear that i just love this place, right?
well...
i recently received an email from them asking if i would be interested in reviewing one of their items.
of course i was interested!!!
check out this AMAZING dress i picked:

i have to say.
i was WAY more than pleased.
i am always a little skeptical about getting something off of the internet,
ya never know if it will fit.
but it fit PERFECTLY!!

see, problem is, i am mrs. longlegs over here.
regardless of where i shop, i cannot cannot find mid length dresses that are long enough
(unless it's a maxi) because i don't care to wear dresses that go above the knee.
i will often times buy a dress and it works perfect,
but shrinks in the wash and automatically goes to the sissy.
(miss shortlegs! ha)
needless to say i was SO happy when i put this dress on and it fit me beautifully.
and was LONG ENOUGH!! what?! oh yes. fabulous.
it is super comfy and cozy
way light and perfect for the summer
&
it has sleeves too.
i'm all about modesty. it's so nice to have just one layer that works wonders!

i'm excited to play around with the dress a little more,
i added a belt for this picture, but can't wait to try new things:
different colored tights, a cardi, a long cardi+a belt, oh the things you can do!
thank you downeast for the incredible dress!

so now it is your turn!!
downeast basics has so graciously offered to giveaway an item of your choice
from the new april line swimsuits included!
if it’s a swim suit, a swim top and swim bottom would count as one set
sweet, huh! AND...
there isn’t a price limit so long as the prize is limited to one item.
wahoo!!
who will be the lucky winner??

here's how you can enter:
a Rafflecopter giveaway
now, onto the partay!

guest post: emily from dashboard diary

hello everyone,
happy day to you all.
today we have the beautiful emily sharing some of her favorite projects.
and i have to say, i love them.
the polaroid one is my favorite.
love polaroids!!
enjoy, and send emily some love.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hey y'all! I'm Emily from DashboardDiary!
Two of my favorite things to blog about are traveling and crafting.
Since I'm on a little craft hiatus (PA school is consuming my life), I enjoy living vicariously through other crafters, so I'm sharing some of my favorite projects with y'all today!
Craft on! Here are my top 5 favorite projects:
A frame with interchangeable letters so that you can change quotes out as you wish
Find my tutorial here
I'm sure you've seen those chicken wire earring holders all over Pinterest, but we realized most of them don't incorporate a method of holding your stud earrings.
Hence, the burlap bow (and the little box attached with brads for rings and things)
Find my tutorial here
I'm obsessed with this Mark Twain quote, and as soon as I found a painting of this old boat at an antique store I immediately thought of it.
Find my tutorial here
My boyfriend gave me a vintage Polaroid Land camera for Valentine's Day (slightly obsessed) and once we finally managed to figure out how to correctly develop pictures (after 3294809328 wasted rolls) we ended up with some awesome pictures. I found an all window frame and arranged the pictures on the frame (which takes so much crafting skills, I know) but it just came out so darn cute.
Find my post on it here
Even though I am the least fashionable person in America, this DIY kinda qualifies as a fashion tutorial:  Stringin' your own pearl bobby pins. I bet you never knew fishing line could be so classy . . .

Find my tutorial here Come stop by and visit me! . . . and send me some pics if you tackle any of these easy projects! I'd love to see your work!

thank you!

designed by kyle warfield retrieved from behance.net
i feel it is completely necessary for me to give a huge thank you to all my readers.
i have received some amazingly nice comments lately.
life can sometimes get discouraging.
i am so busy with work.
and school has been a royal pain this semester.
sometimes i wonder,
how can people be so MEAN.
BUT
then there are people like you and i think,
how can people be so NICE!
it is so refreshing to have kind people like you leave such amazing comments.

so i am giving some shout outs.
and i hope you don't mind if i quote you guys!

from 12 year old alexis on her blog frogturtle:
"As promised, the link to the best site ever....Love Notes By Lauryn!! She is so awsome!! (And pretty too :)  ) Her site is the greatest everrrr!! You've gotta check her out!!!"

grace from her umbrella left the sweetest comments during the stay beautiful fashion series.
check her out, she is super great!

& all of your comments on this post were much too kind.
i feel undeserving of these great compliments!

thank you for bringing happiness into my life!

the party will last from friday morning to monday morning each week.

stay beautiful day eight: the classic taylor

today is the final day of the series!
i have to say.
i'm pretty thrilled.
who knows why i decided to do this series right as the school semester is ending.
final projects are due, studying for finals...blah blah.
so i'm glad to have the series finished!
although, i loved it. it has been very fun.

for today's post i wanted to capture the classic style of taylor.
her style is super classy and lasting.
so i incorporated the outfit from the picture below and various accessories into today's outfit.

maybe the red sunglasses aren't super classic,
but they're fun aren't they!

these are the earrings i wore for my wedding,
i'm casual-ing them down a little bit.

here's a shot of my hair.
it's just a simple french braid turned inside out.

i thought i'd try layering white on white not thinking it would work
but i actually really liked how it turned out.

shoes: steve madden
pants: jc penny
both shirts: american eagle
scarf/necklace: handmade

here is the series all together!

thanks for joining me for the stay beautiful fashion series!
come back tomorrow to link up any of your lovely posts!
& have a lovely day

stay beautiful day seven: close up

i have to tell you.
i wasn't super excited to put this post up.
hello glamour shot.
but i saw this picture:
and thought,
holy cow.
isn't this a beautiful photo?
i HAD to somehow incorporate it into the series,
which meant i was going to have to do a close up.
i'm cool with having full body shots, i'm usually looking away.
but a close up on the face hmm... i don't know about that.
but i decided to cool it.
who CARES!
so with a sweet running jacket, and a little topknot,
here is my close up & copycat of the above picture.
notice how they are not side by side?
i just can't compare myself to the beautiful taylor in this circumstance.
here's me.

ah! scary.
well... it's published now, and no going back.
be not afraid, self!

yet i feel more comfortable showing pictures like this:
yep.
i'm not a model.
but i'm great at pulling faces.

here is the series so far in order if you have missed any.
one more post tomorrow and it's over!

before you go,
come enter the decalLOVE giveaway.
it's almost over!

stay beautiful day six: florals on florals

happy monday everyone!
spring break from work from me. yaay!
as much as i love those preschool kiddos,
sometimes it's nice to have a little time to myself!

thanks to all those who linked up to the party this weekend.
i love seeing all the awesome projects and creativity you all come up with.

today is the 6th day of the stay beautiful fashion series.
today i took a little liberty with taylor's style and really added my own flair.
i mixed two of her outfits to make one of mine:

these two:

to make this one:

here's some more pics:

what do you think about the mix of floral patterns?
kinda fun.

have a lovely day!
